Abstract

Since its establishment, primary health attendance represents attention level that may be capable of changing the population’s health status. The Family Health Program is the first contract that people have with health services and should guarantee an 85% solution for health problems. It also warrants specialized attendance for more technologically complex cases if forwarding to higher levels of the system is required. Current analysis evaluates the implantation of the FHP in Catanduva SP Brazil through an analysis of coverage indexes, changes of assistance model and impact on the population’s health. Methods and techniques follow the theoretical perspective by Henrique & Calvo in their work in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Data were analyzed according to Indicators, Measurements and Parameters for the evaluation and establishment of FHP in Catanduva by comparing results for 2000 and 2010. After the calculation of results, FHP in Catanduva in 2000 was classified unsatisfactory since results expected on Potential Population Coverage, Change Index in Attendance Method and Impact were not reached. It seems that in 2010 certain progress has been identified since FHP in the municipality was classified at an intermediate level.
