Abstract

Current study comprises a bibliographical review on body posture, its implication and occupational functions. The bibliographical review was undertaken from scientific articles published between 2000 and 2012 and retrieved from Lilacs, Medline, Scielo and PubMed sites. The descriptor terms posture, anthropology, postural and body equilibrium were used. Posture is directly related to body equilibrium and both have a great importance in movement. Body posture is affected by several factors in the subject and in the environment, which includes aging, functions and occupational interventions. Results show that postural guidance and participation in prevention programs for postural problems are relevant for the maintenance of body health.
