Abstract

The high body mass index, hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases have been a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in different regions of the world. Thus, its early detection is important in the earlier stage of clinical manifestations and known complications, working on the risk factors likely to change, to prevent the progression of the disease or even promote its regression. This research aims to evaluate the effects of hydrocinesiotherapy on the body mass index and blood pressure of twelve women between fifty and sixty-five years old, with high risk of osteoporotic fractures. The items analyzed match the measurement data collected before and after the intervention, which were held twice a week of hydrotherapy sessions, lasting for fifty minutes each, for a period of six months. There was statistical significance in relation to relevant systolic blood pressure (p=0013) and diastolic (p=0046), as well as body mass index (p=0037), proving the effectiveness of this physiotherapeutic feature.
