The importance of humanization in nursing with emphasis on religious care

Abstract

The spiritual assistance of the sick, who are hospitalized, plays a primordial role during the cure, different researches and studies concluded in the last years give us news of the enormous benefit in the recovery of the sick that the spiritual assistance provides. Faith alone establishes, influential aid in crossing the moments of illness to which we are subject. Spiritual comfort, words of encouragement and hope help to maintain emotional balance, which is so important in these most delicate moments in the life of every human being, as has been observed by nursing, which already sees the patient as an integral being, in a holistic approach. Nursing plays a fundamental role in the religious approach, understanding spiritual care and highlighting the importance of spirituality in coping with the disease. Nursing is paramount in understanding this holistic process of care for hospitalized patients, thus helping with treatment. For this reason, it is imperative that these professionals perceive and know the sources of empowerment for patients admitted to hospital units in order to encourage them to reinforce their religiosity and/or spirituality, which will contribute to coping with and recovering their health status.
