Abstract

This has had the objective of analyzing the wall structure of the anterior interventricular septum of the left coronary artery of ten hearts with arteriosclerosis in the ascending portion of the aorta in individuals of both sexes and different age groups. After the collection, the material was fixed in formaldehyde at 10% for a period of ten days. From each heart, segments of the anterior interventricular stum were submitted to routine histological treatment. The results obtained revealed the presence of arteriosclerosis lesions in the aorta wall associated to alterations in the unternal tissue of the anterior interventricular septum, which varied from a light thickening to the formation ateroma planes. It has been concluded that there is a relationship between aortic and coronary arterioscleroses, and that lesion in the coronary arteries are more marked than the alterations on the aorta wall.
