Keywords:

Abstract
Over the years the teaching-learning process has undergone changes in its methodology and has sought ways to facilitate the teacher’s work in the learning process. Changes in teaching resources, especially pedagogical, comprise educational games. When properly used, learning becomes less mechanical and more meaningful and enjoyable to students. Current analysis discusses whether teachers of government schools in the municipality of Quinta do Sol PR Brazil are prepared to use the games within the teaching-learning process in the classroom. A questionnaire with six questions, one closed and five open, was applied to teachers in the school premises. Teachers reported that the main difficulties for the implementation of educational games were short-period classes, too many students in the classroom, and especially their lack of preparation in dealing with educational games. Consequently, the school must have quality support material for the teacher and it must help them in their difficulties with regard to educational games. Among those interviewed only the Physical Education teachers make use of games in the classroom as inherent to the subject matter. If the teachers were prepared in employing games in spite of the difficulties experienced, they would have another teaching means in their classes. Educational games are a teaching instrument which may help teachers in the teaching-learning process in schools.
