Abstract

Higher education is on the rise according to population rates in Brazil. Expansion brings about issues, with special reference to school quittance. Current essay comprises its causes and tackles the theme from the point of view of the course coordinators. One of most frequently cited causes is the lack of information that future undergraduates have on the course they have chosen. Current research deals with the issue whether the undergraduate course coordinators of the CCHS/UFMS perceive such information lack as a quittance factor in higher education. The research identifies the perception on the absence of information as a motive of quittance. Methodology is based on the qualitative analysis of a semi-open questionnaire applied during an interview with the coordinators. Results show that, from the coordinators´ point of view, lack of information is actually one of the causes for quitting the course. Such understanding may contribute towards future decisions against quittance so that decision could be more conscious and efficient.
