Evaluation of Shearing Resistance in Cement Mortar

Abstract
Interactions between loadings in concrete structures and masonry produces compression forces that, associated with deformations in the covering system, may cause secondary shearing tensions. There are no regulated assays for shearing evaluation in Brazil. Current analysis evaluates shearing tensions in masonry by a method suggested by the UFBA Technical School with 7.5 x 7.5 x 10 cm prism-type assays. Results show that the method is applicable for obtaining shearing resistance and that shearing resistance in the masonry could be determined throughout the evaluated ages.
