The sporting institution and the institutiolalisation of the sporting body

Abstract

The objective of the present article is to understand how the agents who interact with physical education build up their signification about the body. the approach has the sporting body in modern times as the subject of study. The theoretical basis of this analysis is the structuration theory by Anthony Giddes, in which we highlight the concept of reflexive monitoration. To trigger reflection we opted for the illustration of the insertion of sporting practices in Brazil and their gradual relevance on the understanding of the actions withn Physical Education, which is called here Brazilian academic sporting institution. Based on this, we attempt at pointing out the changes related to to the sporting pratices nowadays, and the consequences of these modifications on the institution in question.
