The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of phosphorus-solubilizing bioinput rates and application methods on soil phosphorus availability, plant nutritional status, and grain yield of second-season maize grown in a dystrophic Red Latosol in the Brazilian Cerrado. The experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design with split plots, evaluating seven treatments with bioinput rates ranging from 0 to 300 mL ha?¹, applied either over the entire area or in the planting furrow, with four replications. The bioinput, combined with phosphate fertilization, increased soil available P by up to 313% and promoted a linear increase in remaining P across the three evaluated soil depths. Increasing bioinput rates applied over the entire area resulted in a positive linear response in grain yield. The application of 150 mL ha?¹ in the planting furrow provided the best plant nutritional status, the highest soil available P content (33.02 mg dm?³), and the highest grain yield (2.12 Mg ha?¹), representing increases of 26% compared with the untreated control and 9% compared with phosphate fertilization without the bioinput. The bioinput showed potential to optimize phosphate fertilizer use and increase second-season maize productivity in the Brazilian Cerrado.
