Abstract

The biological contamination by exotic plants in the Mixed Umbrophile Forest of the Municipal Pine-tree Park in Guarapuava PR Brazil is analyzed to investigate the invasion processes of the environment. Results showed the occurrence of 12 species belonging to nine botanic families. Seven species were represented by trees, two by shrubs, two by grasses and by one liana. The liana Lonicera japonica Thunb. ex-Murray had the highest quantity in sociability, reaching scale IV, and formed large patches on the east margin of the forest. Eriobotrya japonica (Thunb.) Lindl., Hovenia dulcis Thunb. and Ligustrum lucidum W.T. Aiton were the trees that presented the highest risk for native plants since they encountered the best conditions in the forest undergrowth for their development. In fact, they participated in the horizontal structure and thus in the dynamics of the park´s mixed umbrophile forest. The dispersion of the vegetal and reproductive parts by the waters of the stream Xarquinho that crosses the park and zoocoric and anthropic manners were the main invasion pathway of the exotic species.
