Abstract

The effect of different concentrations of sucrose and pH indexes in the in vitro growth of Oncidium flexuosum is evaluated. Plants were cultivated in a MS/2 culture medium to test the effects of sucrose (0, 15, 30, 45, 60 g.L-1) and pH (5.0, 5.8, 6.6) on their development with respect to the variables: height of aerial part (HAP), number of roots (NR), length of the greatest root (LGR), number of leaves (NL) and fresh mass (FM). Regardless of pH, concentrations 15 and 30 g.L-1 were the most efficient for the species´s in vitro culture since they enhanced increase in root length, height of plant and fresh mass. Further, pH was significant only when combined to 15 g.L-1 of sucrose for the length of the greatest root and fresh mass.
