A shared management system involving dry mass wastes (DMW) from a food industry and their recycling in a swine farm in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, is analyzed from the economic point of view. Further, the sanitary and environmental impact of DMW management was assessed. Data were collected on the food industry and the swine farm during 2013. The relationship between investment and return was investigated for the recycling process and for health and environmental safety of DMW from production to inclusion in animal diet. Results revealed that shared economic management reduced costs in swine feed by an average of 13.42%, with average nine-month return time. Regarding to the environmental aspect, there was an effective 95.52% recycling and reusing of DMW. Shared management on sanitary impact provided an improvement in health safety throughout all the stages of DMW recycling.Downloads
