Contributions to the duty of continuity in the main essential services

Abstract

Many essential services are supplied under a monopoly regimen and though long-term exclusive contracts, which provides several opportunities for abuse on the companies´part. However, this context possess rulings with specifices, which should not be mixed with the duty of continuity of the essential services. There is a whole group of legal dispositions, which are apt to well rule the market practices and all the other aspects of contractual relationships, the repression of deviations included. And, in this aspect, it becomes salient the importance of the Consumerist Legislation, as a modern, adequate and sufficiently comprehensive norm.
