Abstract

Objectives: To describe the epidemiological profile of patients treated at the hemodialysis unit at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora University Hospital. Methodology: This is a descriptive, retrospective study with a quantitative approach, encompassing 129 patients undergoing hemodialysis in November 2022. We collected data from physical medical records using a form containing questions related to the patients’ epidemiological profile. Results: Among the 129 patients analyzed, 50.4% were female, with a mean age of 61±14 years. Regarding clinical profile, 25.6% had diabetic nephropathy as the underlying cause of chronic kidney disease, and 93.8% presented hypertension as a comorbidity. The mean duration of treatment was 59±64 months. Conclusion: The data presented highlight the diversity of the patients' characteristics, contributing to improving the care provided. The findings underscore the importance of continuous and integrated multidisciplinary care to address the various factors influencing the experience of living with chronic kidney disease.
