Abstract

High-risk pregnancy is one in which the life or health of the mother and/or fetus and/or newborn are more likely to be affected than those in the average population. This study aimed to analyze psychological distress in high-risk pregnancies. It is an exploratory study, employing a qualitative approach through a systematic literature review. Publications on the subject between 2012 and 2022 were sought on the following portals: BVS, PUBMED, Portal CAPES, and EBSCO. Following the PRISMA protocol, 52 articles were analyzed by thematic categories. The literature identifies stress, anxiety, depression, HIV, and suicide risk as indicators of psychological distress in high-risk pregnancies, exacerbated by factors such as a history of abuse and absence of partners.
