Abstract

The objective is to understand the impacts of domestic and family violence on the mental health of women attended at the Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS) in Interior do Ceará. This is an exploratory-descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, based on semi-structured interviews carried out with four women victims of domestic and family violence treated at CAPS Geral. The predominance of psychological violence among the participants can be identified. In relation to the various impacts of violence, the following stand out: low self-esteem, social isolation, and triggering of mental disorders/situations of psychological suffering or worsening of existing conditions. CAPS appears, in the participants' statements, as a welcoming and supportive space to face the impacts caused by violence. Therefore, there is a need to promote personalized interventions that empower victims and strengthen support networks. Integrated public policies and the continuous training of CAPS professionals are fundamental for effective service.
