PHYSICAL EXERCISES IN THE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF OSTEOPOROSIS IN ELDERLY PEOPLE

Abstract

Current bibliographical study verifies the benefits of physical exercise in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in the elderly. Literature review shows that all authors agree on the importance of physical exercise in the prevention and treatment of the bone disease so common in the elderly. When physical exercise is regularly practiced through qualified programs it produce highly positive effects for bone remodeling, reduction of bone mass, decrease in bone degradation and frequently increase in structure. Physical exercise has many benefits to the body and to the mind especially for the elderly. Physical exercises act as prevention, improve the life quality of the elderly and treat several types of diseases including osteoporosis.
