Abstract

Syphilis, Hepatitis B and AIDS are transmitted through the placenta by pregnant women to the fetus, with serious neonatal problems. Current paper evaluates pregnant women´s clinical and sociodemographic profile with syphilis, Hepatitis B and HIV+ at the municipal polyclinic of Gurupi TO Brazil between January 2004 and October 2013. The retrospective research was undertaken at the Policlínica Luiz Santos Filho. Data collection occurred between August and October 2013 and showed data of 54 pregnant women who had pre-natal tests between 2004 and 2013. Charts were selected according to serum criteria (VDRL, HIV+ or Hepatite B) in data banks. Current information was obtained from charts with clinical and sociodemographic information. Tables and graphs and contingence tables were prepared. Ten females with syphilis, 19 females with HIV+ and 25 women with Hepatitis B were focused. Negroes were prevalent, with 21 cases of Hepatitis B, 9 of HIV+ and 8 cases with syphilis. Subjects were within the 17 – 42 age bracket and, in the case of people with syphilis, they were married. Subjects lived predominantly in the town although some pregnant women with HIV+ hailed from the rural area. Pregnant women with HIV+ had more schooling years but the predominant profession was the female householder. Pregnant women with HIV+ had most complaints. Two previous abortion cases in pregnant women with syphilis and one with HIV+ may be mentioned. There was a case of a woman with HIV+ who underwent a caesarian operation.
