Abstract

The intake of illicit and illicit drugs has increased worldwide. Current research identifies the abuse of drugs in a sample of undergraduates and its possible association with resilience. Current descriptive research was undertaken with 152 university students and data collection was obtained online. Participants responded to TCLE, the social-demographic questionnaire to measure resilience (Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale) and the abusive intake of drugs (ASSIST). Logistic regression model was employed to verify the association between drug abuse and the variable under analysis. High drug consumption was detected among the undergraduates analyzed. Logistic regression revealed a significant association between smoking and high resilience and between alcohol consumption and high resilience. High rates of resilience are a protecting factor with regard to alcohol intake and smoking.
