Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Policy (DEIA)
The journal Saúde e Pesquisa reaffirms its commitment to promoting and disseminating knowledge as a collective good, with equity and justice, integrating the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA). In this way, they promote inclusive governance, serving diverse and historically marginalized audiences. In line with these ideals, the journal reiterates its efforts aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs/UN), especially highlighting goals 5 - Gender Equality and 10 - Reduced Inequalities.
In this context, the journal Saúde e Pesquisa, starting in 2025, commits to:
Actively participating in initiatives aimed at transforming the academic community, aligning it with the values of inclusion, equity, and representation of cultural diversity;
Seeking comprehensive representativeness in authorship, editorial work, and evaluation, considering geographic, institutional, and socioeconomic diversity;
Encouraging and welcoming contributions from minority and diverse audiences;
Encourage authors to adopt respectful and inclusive language in their manuscripts, promoting an approach sensitive to differences and equal opportunities;
Guide editors and reviewers to react promptly to language that may promote racial, age, gender bias, or any form of discrimination or exclusion;
Recommend that authors base their research and publication on Gender Equity, following the SAGER (Sex and Gender Equity in Research) guidelines and checklists, providing a systematic approach to information on sex and gender in research;
Seek representatives from minority groups, including geographic, institutional, and gender diversity, to integrate governance bodies and reviewers;
Monitor and analyze gender indicators in the editorial board, authorship, and evaluation;
Stimulate and support the collection of data that allows for the development, measurement, analysis, and management of indicators of diversity, equality, inclusion, and accessibility;
Reinforce communication with the editorial board, reviewers, and authors about the importance of adhering to DEIA principles to drive scientific progress.
