Abstract

The present study aims to bring some reflections on the role of the corporate citizen faithful to the law, as synonymous with a company that has an effective compliance program, in terms of possible violations of human rights as a result of climate change. To do so, it discusses climate change and human rights. In this first stage, the focus is on the interrelationship between the aforementioned themes, insofar as the first can directly affect the second. Then, in the expanded study, when the company is listed as an important agenda promoting climate change, some soft law instruments that regulate the subject matter of study are listed, mainly the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights 2011. Finally, it reflects on how the corporate citizen faithful to the law can be a partner of human rights in the context of climate change.
