Abstract

Ease of access to digital media can influence the behavior of recipients, related to suicidal ideation and completed suicide. Objective: The study analyzed the quality of videos on the YouTube® platform about suicide of older adults, published by health professionals or institutions. Method: The selected videos were evaluated by two reviewers, indicating that the majority of videos were of moderate to high quality according to the criteria of the DISCERN and Global Quality Score (GQS) instruments. Results: Videos produced by healthcare institutions tended to have a higher quality score compared to those from individual sources. Conclusion: The findings suggest an urgent need to improve the quality of health information made available online and a lack in the production of high-quality content, capable of serving both health professionals and the lay public, highlighting the need for incentives for the production of content about suicide in the older adults.

Nurse graduated from the University of Cuiabá (2013). Specialist in Emergency Nursing, UniBF (2021). Master's degree in Health Promotion in Aging (2024) from Unicesumar - Maringá. Experience in nursing care practices, with work in supervised internship of the nursing course. Nursing teacher (disciplines Urgency and Emergency, Public Health, Women's Health, Mental Health, ICU, Geriatrics). Full professor since 2016 at the Mato Grosso Technical Education Center - CETEM. Experience in the preparation of health teaching handouts.

Natalia Quevedo dos Santos, Cesumar University

Post-Doctorate in Health Promotion from Cesumar University (Unicesumar) (2024) and Scholarship Holder of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), PhD in Health Promotion from Cesumar University (Unicesumar) (2023) Scholarship Holder (CAPES), Master in Health Promotion (2021) from Unicesumar and CAPES Scholarship Holder, has a degree in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy (2018). Graduated in Portuguese/English Literature and Psychology. Postgraduate degree in Portuguese language teaching with emphasis on arts and master's and doctoral candidate in Health Promotion at UniCesumar. Member of the Psychology in Focus Institute, where he served as editor of the Psychology in Focus Journal (ISSN 2178-9096). Lucas França Garcia, Cesumar University

Social Scientist and Bioethicist, Master (2013) and PhD (2017) in Medical Sciences and Bioethics from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). From 2015 to 2016, he worked as a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn), through the Sandwich Doctorate Program Abroad (PDSE/CAPES). He currently holds the position of Permanent Professor in the Postgraduate Program in Health Promotion and Human and Social Sciences at Cesumar University of Maringá (UniCesumar) in the undergraduate courses in Multimedia Communication and Advertising. Since 2024, he has been Coordinator of the Research Ethics Committee of the same institution. He leads the CNPQ Research Group on "Bioethics and Global Health Promotion in Aging" and is an Associate Researcher at the Laboratory of Research in Bioethics and Ethics in Science at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (LAPEBEC/HCPA), as well as a Senior Volunteer Collaborating Researcher in the Postgraduate Program in Bioethics at the University of Brasília (UnB). He is a Research Fellow in the Research Productivity for Doctorate (PPD) modality of the Cesumar Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation (ICETI). PhD in Social Psychology from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, with a sandwich period at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières-Canada. Post-doctorate in Global Health from Duke University-USA. Has experience in the area of Psychology, with emphasis on Sports Psychology and Health Promotion. He is currently a professor of the stricto sensu Postgraduate Program in Health Promotion and of the undergraduate course in Psychology at Cesumar University (UniCesumar). Leader of the Research Group/CNPQ Psychology, Sports and Health - PES. Coordinator of CAPEC (Research Advisory Committee) at UniCesumar. Coordinator of the scientific area of ABEPEEx (Brazilian Association for Studies in Sports and Exercise Psychology).
