Abstract

Objective: to analyze the impact of screening, diagnosis and treatment on cervical cancer mortality in Brazil in 2009 and 2019. Method: The dependent variable was the cervical cancer mortality rate, and the independent variables were coverage of cytopathological examination, proportion of late diagnoses and time between diagnosis and treatment. The panel data model was used considering the 27 Brazilian federation units and the year as a time variable. Results: the mortality rate from cervical cancer varied from 8.57 deaths per 100 thousand women in 2009 to 7.93 deaths per 100 thousand women in 2019 and this subtle reduction did not show a statistically significant relationship with the independent variables. Conclusion: indicators related to screening, diagnosis and treatment did not impact mortality rates from cervical cancer.
