Abstract

A Marxist perspective is provided on the conditions of prostitutes within the capitalist system. A theoretical and normative approach is provided with regard to the main manifestations of prostitution that evidence their social invisibility to which the profession is subjected. Treatment of prostitutes by the State is contradictory: on the one hand, there are initiatives for social security for the protection of prostitutes; on the other hand, criminalization exists in practices linked to the profession.
