THE DEMOCRATIC STATE AND THE FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT TO STRIKE BY TEACHERS OF THE STATE OF PARANÁ, BRAZIL: A CASE STUDY

Abstract

The right to strike as self-defense and as a fundamental right of workers is discussed, ensuring Democracy in conflicts and social needs. A critical analysis on the strike within the public and private milieu is undertaken with special reference to teachers´ strikes in the state of Paraná, Brazil, and the government´s stance in the wake of the right to strike. Current theoretical research is foregrounded on a concrete case. The inductive method is employed by which specific issues give rise to general conclusions. The essay verified whether there was contempt to democracy and the fundamental right to strike.
